ESALESTAX.COM SECURES FORMER NEBRASKA GOVERNOR AS BOARD MEMBER
Former Nebraska Governor Ben Nelson Joins Internet Tax Company's
Board of Directors
February 15, 2000 - ENGLEWOOD, CO - Esalestax.com, a recently formed company, which will be the first to
offer merchants and tax authorities a Web-based solution to Internet taxation, announced today that it has
added Former Nebraska Governor Ben Nelson to its Board of Directors.
Nelson's involvement with esalestax.com marks the first measure of political support regarding the Internet
tax issue. Nelson's responsibilities will include strategic planning and client negotiations.
This is a coup for esalestax.com, as no other governor has joined the board of directors of a technology
company providing an Internet sales tax solution.
"We are honored to have Ben Nelson as a member of our Board of Directors," said Mike Blandina,
president of esalestax.com. "With Internet taxation at the forefront of Washington's political agenda,
having a government figure with his knowledge lends credibility and a wealth of experience to our company.
This will ultimately translate to optimum service for our clients."
Early in his term as Governor, Nelson established himself as a national leader.
He was President of the Council of State Governments in 1994, Chairman of the Midwestern
Governors' Conference, in 1994, Chairman of the Western Governors' Association in 1995, and
co-chairman of the National Summit on Federalism in October 1995, which reached consensus on
an action plan to restore the balance of power between federal and state governments while
protecting the U.S. Constitution. Nelson decreased property taxes, reduced income tax by five
percent and won a reduction in Sales tax in 1998. Because of Nelson's initiatives, the Nebraska
economy remains strong, with one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation.
About esalestax.com
Esalestax.com is currently developing a product for online sales transaction taxation
that will serve as a 'go-between' among e-merchants and state tax authorities.
The Englewood-based company will offer e-merchants and state tax authorities the first trusted
third-party Web-based solution for Internet tax processing. Esalestax.com's architecture will
perform the appropriate tax calculations, return the results to the merchant, and then
retain the information for filing and Tax Authority audits. The company's application
system accurately calculates and applies existing sales and use taxes to online purchases
and ensures that each jurisdiction is able to collect taxes on all transactions as required by law.
